Designation of MaPS employees

The Faculty Association has filed a Labour Board application to designate all Management and Professional Staff (MaPS) as Academic Staff (except those few who might be excluded – e.g. HR/Labour Relations). It will take some time for this to be heard by the Labour Board and we will provide more information in due course.

Following receipt of the Governors letter at the end of May 2018, the Faculty Association sent two letters to the Administration on June 14, 2018: 1) responding to how the Governors have decided to move forward on this matter, stating that it does not respond to the issues raised in the April 2018 letter and 2) responding to the proposed consultation process itself.

The Administration responded to these letters on June 26, 2018.
Sheila Miller, Association Executive Director, replied to the Administration by email the same day reiterating the Association’s overall concern and how the narrowly defined review does not respond to the Association’s request.

On May 31, 2018 the Association received a letter from the Board of Governors Chair, Jill Wyatt, in response to the April 12th letter regarding the designation of Management and Professional Staff (MaPS). Further, the Governors have prepared a process document entitled: “Designation and Consultation Process Management and Professional Staff”.
